Burns Blossom Farm is a family-run, Certified Organic farm in Chico, California, operated by Kyle and Mel Burns with plenty of help from their young daughter, Rosemary Blossom. After nearly a decade of farming together, the Burns family has built their farm around a love of growing good food, caring for the soil, and having a little fun along the way, whether that means debating seed varieties, playing baseball with overgrown turnips, or dancing to Dolly Parton in the propagation tunnel.
Today, Burns Blossom Farm grows at two locations in Chico. Their original ¾-acre market garden is located at The Barber Yard near the historic Diamond Match factory, while their four-acre home farm on Santa Clara Avenue, purchased in 2023, has given the family an opportunity to put down deeper roots and expand their production.
Soil health is at the heart of everything they do. Burns Blossom Farm is CCOF/USDA Certified Organic and certified through the Real Organic Project, and the farm never uses synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. Instead, Kyle and Mel focus on minimizing soil disturbance, maintaining living roots, growing a diverse array of plants, creating pollinator habitat, and keeping the soil protected and covered.
Through these practices, the Burns family works to nurture the life beneath their feet while growing a diverse selection of vibrant, flavorful produce for their community.
