What They Grow: Peaches, Plums, Pluots, Mandarins, Persimmons, Figs
Brenner Ranch has been a family farm since 1976, when George and Helen Brenner purchased 51 acres along Highway 193 and moved to the property with their six children. At the time, the land was planted primarily with plums, apples, persimmons, and chestnuts.
Their son, Jim Brenner, eventually took the lead on the farm, initially planning to continue its focus on plums. Over the years, however, Jim began experimenting with an increasingly diverse selection of fruit crops suited to the region’s growing conditions.
Today, Brenner Ranch is home to an impressive variety of fruit, including peaches, pluots, kiwis, apricots, mandarins, and more. By continually diversifying what the farm grows, Jim has created a productive, resilient orchard with different crops coming into season throughout much of the year.
Nearly 50 years after the Brenner family first arrived, the ranch continues its tradition of family farming while embracing the diversity and seasonality that make locally grown fruit so special.
