What They Grow: Cut flowers, edible flowers, herbs, and greens.

Bluebird Farm, located in Nevada City, California, specializes in nutrient-dense greens, culinary herbs, microgreens, seasonal flowers, and floral design. Their vegetables are Certified Organic by CCOF, and the farm is dedicated to sustainable growing practices that build healthy soil, care for the land, and produce exceptionally flavorful and beautiful food and flowers.

Farmer Malaika Bishop has been growing food for as long as she can remember. After years of leading nonprofits focused on increasing access to and education around good food, she returned to farming, drawn by a love of working outdoors, growing alongside a team, and continually learning from the land. She is passionate about the connection between farming, healthy communities, and the environment, and believes that the ways we grow and choose our food can have a meaningful impact.

What began primarily as a love of growing vegetables has also blossomed into a passion for flowers. Today, Bluebird Farm cultivates approximately 1½ acres of greens alongside a half-acre of more than 150 varieties of flowers, creating a vibrant palette of colors, shapes, textures, and flavors throughout the growing season.

At the heart of Bluebird Farm is a commitment to rich, living soil and thoughtful stewardship. Malaika and her talented, hardworking crew put care into every crop they grow, carrying that energy from the soil, through their hands, and ultimately to the tables of their community.
