Roasted Broccoli with Sesame Garlic Orange Sauce

 
 

Ingredients

 
  • 1 cup of orange juice (approximately 2 oranges)

  • 2 lbs. Of broccoli crowns 

  • ¾ cup of brown sugar 

  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger 

  • 2 teaspoons of red chili flakes (add more for a spicier sauce) 

  • 1 tablespoon of rice wine vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce 

  • ½ tablespoon of sesame oil 

  • 2 cloves of garlic 

  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch 

  • Salt + pepper to taste 

  • Sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment or tin foil. Coat with oil and add broccoli. Generously cover with salt and pepper and roast until slightly crispy. 

  2. In a saucepan add 2 cloves of minced garlic and sesame oil. Heat over medium/low heat until fragrant. Add orange juice, soy sauce,  rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Add chili flakes and slowly whisk in cornstarch until desired thickness is reached. Remove from heat. 

  3. To serve, mix broccoli with sauce and top with sesame seeds.
