Join our friends at Sierra Harvest for Potlucks throughout the growing season. Celebrate our local food community on a number of different farms! All potlucks take place on the first & third Thursdays of the month from 5:30-8pm. Farm tour starts at 5:30pm and potluck at 6pm. This potluck will be hosted by Tim Van Wagner of First Rain Farm!
First Rain Farm is a diversified and certified organic operation. They grow over forty types of vegetables and berries on three of their thirty-seven acres. Their herd of twenty-five Nubian dairy goats provide milk and meat for the community, are used to manage the land, and from their bedding they are able to produce 100% of the compost they use on the farm. Tim believes deeply in the need to steward land responsibly and holistically. Their focus is not only on production fields but on the surrounding land as well. Through an integrated forestry approach, First Rain Farm is creating a role in our neighborhood as a land manager, working to restore forest health, reduce fuel loads, and create value from the surrounding forested lands.
They sell vegetables at the Nevada City Farmers Market, to the Briarpatch Coop, Ikes Quarter Cafe, Three Forks Bakery and Brewery, New Moon Cafe, Watershed, and Heartwood.
