The Tahoe Food Hub creates a regional marketplace for small farms to sell their products to restaurants, small grocers, schools and hospitals in North Lake Tahoe. If you are a wholesale food buyer interested in sourcing local food within 100 miles, please contact us and we can connect you with over 25 small, family farms using sustainable and ecological farming practices.
Buyers of the Tahoe Food Hub will be recognized as a supporter of local food and local economies when they display the Tahoe Food Hub’s distinctive green vegetable emblem in their windows, on their websites and in their menus.
How we do it…
Tahoe Food Hub’s certified producers work cooperatively to coordinate their harvests and provide a consistent supply of quality and diverse seasonal fruits and vegetables. By crop planning with our producers, farmers know they have a market for their crops. We deliver one day a week in the winter on Thursdays and two days a week in the summer on Tuesdays and Fridays. We use an online ordering system called, Local Orbit. The site allows us to share the story of each farmer to better connect our community with where our food comes from and the importance of healthy, sustainably grown food.
If you would like to sign up for our weekly Fresh Sheet, sign-up for an account here. Fresh Sheets are emailed on Tuesday at 6pm and Friday at 6pm in summer and on Tuesday at 6pm in winter.
Build Your Own Box Program:
Tahoe Food Hub is excited to announce the BYOB- Build Your Own Box Program. This program is similar to a farm share or a produce subscription, but gives a business and neighborhood access to over 25 local farms. You pick what goes in the box each week, pay weekly, not in advance, take a week off if needed and enjoy easy drop-off and pick-up options.
It’s easy to get started, simply build your group, designate a coordinator, order online and start enjoying your picked to order local, sustainably grown, seasonal produce. Please contact Susie Sutphin at email@example.com with any questions.
